Do you live in New Jersey or traveling to the state soon and need to come up with the perfect romantic or platonic date idea?
You are in luck! The Garden State has many opportunities to create the perfect date regardless of the occasion.
Not everyone is a genius when it comes to romance. Every once in a while, we all need a creative spark or a muse to get the ball rolling. Not only will you look like a genius mastermind, but you will get to explore and experience New Jersey in a whole new light.
Best of all, you can apply any of these ideas when hanging out with your friends or your family.
So, want to go on possibly the best date ever? Well, here are our fun date ideas to have in New Jersey.
Ditch the regular movie theater and go to a drive-in! New Jersey still has a few drive-in movie theaters left in the state, like the Warwick and Delsea Drive-In. Not only will you get to see a movie out on the open and in the comfort of your car, but you can stargaze or talk and tell each other jokes if the movie is boring.
Don’t forget to bring a small FM/AM radio to tune into the movie, you don’t want your car’s battery to run out!
Sticking with the movie theme, during the summer months, Hoboken has a really cool outdoor “Movie on the Green” program. Try to plan out an evening to take your date to a dinner and a movie on the green in Hoboken’s Pier a Park. Groupon has some great deals for hotels and activities in Hoboken, which you can check out here.
As for dinner, Washington Street in Hoboken has well-known restaurants and very cool places to grab a bite. Having a romantic date in Hoboken opens many opportunities, and will give you endless opportunities to impress your date.
If your date loves to dance, there are multiple bars and clubs around Washington St. and the Path Station. If music and dancing are not on the table, go for a hibachi dinner show at Rice Shop, which is also a BYOB joint.
Lastly, you can never go wrong with a nice stroll along the Hudson Rivera with a view to NYC’s skyline. You can even make it a night out with booking a room at the W Hoboken and wake up to the sunrise over the NYC skyline.
If you are on the more sophisticated side, consider booking some activities at the annual New Jersey Wine and Food Festival. Do some wine tasting for a romantic date or learn how to make donuts with your best friend.
The NJ Wine and Food Festival usually runs for several days in April or May. They have multiple tents for wine tasting, yoga exercises, and food tasting by famous chefs from around the United States.
Even though these activities are limited to the fall season, they are great outdoor and interactive date idea to try.
New Jersey has multiple farms that offer apple and pumpkin picking. Riamede Farm in Chester, Wightman Farm in Morristown, and Battleview Orchards in Freehold are only just a few of the farms out there.
Get lost in a corn maze and hitch a hayride to a pumpkin patch. Plus, if your date loves Halloween, consider going on a date in a haunted house.
Lastly, if you want to switch it up from the standard movie theaters go for an improv or comedy show.
New Jersey has many vibrant and artistic towns. Be sure to check out Montclair, East Rutherford, Princeton, and Hoboken for daily events. As I mentioned before, you can apply any of these ideas to not only romantic dates but family time or to spend some quality time with your bestie.
