Barbados: Flying Fish and Cou-Cou

Whether you’re an avid traveler and explorer or not, everyone needs that vacation where it’s time to relax and enjoy pure bliss. Many head off to the Caribbean islands and Barbados each year because of its sheer beauty. It can provide the ideal environment to relax, unwind, and forget about the stresses you’ve left behind in your office.

Although this small island, nestled in the Caribbean, provides a paradise and idyllic setting; there’s plenty to see and do there too, and you’ll never be bored, or stuck for something to do.

Of course, if you’re after a week or two of lying on pristine sand, as you listen to the ocean, and sip on cocktails, you’ve also come to the right place as Barbados is a destination built on the beauty and peacefulness of beach life.

An island with year-round temperate climate, that rarely drops, it’s always a great time to visit this little gem of an island. It boasts a vibrant landscape and plenty of history for those who want a little more from their escape. Therefore, it’s best to do a little research and planning beforehand so that you can discover, and make the most of the beautiful vacation you’re about to have.

The following are some ideas, advice, and travel tips for those who want to pack their swimwear and head to an idyllic setting to make the most of the warm and welcoming Barbados.

Find Your Ideal Accommodation

If you’re thinking on a budget; a self-catering option could be just what your after. There are apartments in Bridgetown, Barbados and in other areas of the island, that can give you everything you need for a relaxing and comfortable break.

Try to consider the location of your accommodation, especially if you’re self-catering; you’ll want to be close to town so that you can grab some fresh ingredients and head back to cook yourself a delicious meal. Often, these apartments or villas benefit from a beachfront setting so that you can make the most of the island’s beauty every day.

There is also, of course, the option to go to the other end of the spectrum in regard to budget and luxury. It’s worth looking into some of the best hotels on the island, and finding out what they have to offer in your price range, for an all-inclusive package and escape.

Explore Your Surroundings

For those that aren’t going to be lying down with a drink for the duration of their escape; there’s plenty to see and do, so make sure you’ve packed some comfortable shoes. July and August offer the opportunity to enjoy some exciting festivals held on the island, like the Crop Over Kadooment Day.

There are plenty of water sports and activities to enjoy too, not to mention the opportunity to do a little island hopping so that you can see more of the beautiful Caribbean. You’ll find that Barbados offers quite the afternoon tea, and dressing up for dinner is often expected; so, you’ll have the chance to enjoy the finer side of life during your stay.

Don’t limit yourself to one beach, plan ahead, and make the most of your getaway.

And, if you are an avid reader grab a copy of Agatha Christie’s “A Caribbean Mystery” and venture out into the world of crime and mystery with Miss Marple’s crime-solving skills while on her vacation in Barbados.
