In this Grand Teton travel guide, you will find the best Grand Teton things to do as well as an easy Grand Teton itinerary.

I will provide some Grand Teton National Park facts and introduce you to the Grand Teton Mountain. I hope that any person who enjoys spending time in nature and hiking will find this useful and informative.

After all, I believe every adventurer would love to explore something fresh and unique while in Wyoming. Everyone agrees that the Yellowstone National Park is magnificent, but enriching your experience with Grand Teton certainly won’t hurt.

Looking for ideas and details about the Grand Teton National Park?! My Grand Teton guide is here to help!

Check Out the Grand Teton Visitor Center

In you want to simply explore Grand Teton, go on a hike or even spend a night or two – your first stop must be the Craig Thomas Discovery and Visitor Center. The Grand Teton Visitor Center is open to visitors from March until early November. Exhibits offered in the center include mountaineering, Western artifacts and natural history.

Plus, the Grand Teton Visitor Center boasts with a Junior Rangers program, which is perfect for kids. Don’t forget to remember that the program is free! Adults visitors, on the other hand, can go on a guided tour and get familiar with interesting Grand Teton National Park facts.

If, after all, the center is not on your Grant Teton things to do list, you can simply stop for a second to get useful information. Here, you can check if certain parts of the park are closed as well as fill up your hiking water bottle.

Take the Jenny Lake Hike

Kayaks in Lake Jenny in Grand Teton Wyoming.
Lake Jenny.

The Jenny Lake hike is certainly one of the mandatory Grant Teton things to do!

It’s a real challenge to try to explain the beauty of this gem of nature. There are so many things to do at Jenny Lake, besides taking the famous Jenny Lake Hike. For example, you can swim in Jenny Lake, at least outside the boat mooring and marinas areas. If it’s cold, then you can try some Jenny Lake boating, which is a unique and wonderful experience.

Another option is to stay there for a nigh and experience some relaxing Jenny Lake Camping. There are a few camping sites around Jenny Lake, including standard ones as well as RV and Trailer Villages as well as Group Camping options.

Regardless how long you stay at Jenny Lake, you must explore the Hidden Falls Jenny Lake. The trail goes around the south shore of the lake and its length is around 5 miles (8.05 km). On the Hidden Falls Jenny Lake hike, you will be amazed by the nature as well as have unforgettable views of the valley. More importantly, this Jenny Lake hike takes you to the hidden falls.

Finally, another must see spot is the Inspiration Point Jenny Lake. This trail is out-and-back type, with round distance of about 2.2 miles (3.54 km). The Inspiration Point Jenny Lake hike starts at the Trailhead and then you need to turn west off the Teton Park Road.

Picnic at Signal Mountain Summit Road

If you have the time for a relaxing day and lunch in nature, then make sure to visit Signal Mountain Summit Road! Found at the Signal Mountain Wyoming, the lookout offers incredible views of Grand Teton. Hence, it is one of the highly recommended Grant Teton things to do.

Many consider getting there to be the best Grand Teton scenic drive as the views are amazing. Keep in mind, however, that the Signal Mountain road is closed November through March. However, when available, the spot offers a few tables perfect for picnics as well as bathrooms.

See the Jackson Lake Dam

Lake Jackson.

Another gem of nature in Grand Teton is the Jackson Lake. This amazing lake with depth of 438 ft (0.13 km) was enlarged by the construction of the interesting Jackson Lake Dam. We believe that if you find yourself in the area, then seeing the dam is surely one of the cool Grand Teton things to do.

When you get to the Jackson Lake Dam, you will notice the Snake River emerging from it and flowing through Wyoming, Idaho, Oregon and Washington. The dam’s construction started back in 1911 and it’s opening took place five years later. Jackson Lake Dam is 65 ft (19.81 m) tall and 4,920 ft (1.5 km) long.

If you go there, you may want to spend a night at the unique Jackson Lake lodge. With 60 ft (18.29 m) tall windows, the place is possibly the best one for spotting all kinds of wildlife including elk, moose and deer. Moreover, the Jackson Lake Lodge boasts with Native-American artifacts as well as many famous murals.

Other cool activities would include Jackson Lake Wyoming Camping, Jackson Lake fishing or Jackson Lake boating. So, don’t forget to pack your fishing gear! You can even go on a Jackson Lake boat cruise and simply enjoy everything the surroundings has to offer.

Explore Colter Bay Village

Wildlife in Grand Teton.

Colter Bay Village is on everyone’s Grand Teton things to do list. Namely, this developed area of the Grand Teton National Park lies on the northeast side of the amazing Jackson Lake. The charming area has a visitor center, camping grounds and a marina.

The same company that operates the Jackson Lake Lodge as well as the Jenny Lake Lodge operates the Colter Bay Village. In other words, the Grand Teton Lodge Company is responsible for the Colter Bay Village campground, Colter Bay Village tent cabins and Colter Bay Village cabins.

I believe that Colter Bay Village must be included in any Grand Teton itinerary or Grand Teton guide. This place offers ultimate relaxation and enjoyment. You can go boating in Jackson Lake, try fishing in Jackson Lake or spot wildlife. It is equally fun for all nature lovers, regardless their age.

Summary on Grand Teton Things to Do

Even though this list of things to do does feature some must-see attractions, keep in mind that Grand Teton National Park is huge and offers much more. For example, you can give a visit to the Mormon Row Historic District or the Menors Ferry Historic District. Other interesting options to include in your Grand Teton itinerary would be checking out Moose Wilson Road or going on an unforgettable Grand Teton Wildlife Safari.

Those that want something to boost their adrenaline levels can try horseback riding or biking on the pathway. Plus, don’t forget that the Grand Teton Mountain is one of the best-known in the country. This means that both hiking and rock climbing are options for visitors of Grand Teton. Thanks to Jenny Lake and Jackson Lake, amusing activities like rafting, canoeing and kayaking are also on the offer. When the season is right, adrenaline junkies can even go on cross-country skiing and snowshoeing when visiting the Grand Teton Mountain.
