Hotel and Flight Search

Hiking Abroad

If you are planning a trip abroad or if you know that you want to go hiking in a foreign country then you will need to pack very strategically. After all, you need to take into account the climate, your own needs and whatever you can take through airport security as well. By doing all of this, you can be sure to have an unforgettable hiking experience and without any hassle or fuss.

Your Boots

One thing that you should do is wear your hiking boots when you are on the plane. After all, your hiking boots will probably be much heavier when compared to any other boots that you have and you don’t want to take up too much of your luggage allowance either.

You can take them off during your flight and it will make it much easier for you to pack. If you are taking a trekking pole with you then put them in the bag that is going to be checked by security. You also need to make sure that the poles are collapsible as well, as this will save you a lot of time and headaches at customs. If you are in need of new trekking poles, check out Amazon, they have one of the best seller trekking poles and a wide variety from aluminum to carbon fiber materials.

It also helps to know that some countries will check your hiking boots to make sure that you are not going to pose as a risk to their local agriculture. It helps to look into this before you travel. If you want to hike with a purpose, then Global Adventure Challenges remain to be a great way for you to get this done.

Great way to save space in your bag when going hiking abroad is to wear your hiking boots on the plane, since they take up a lot of space due to their size.

The Two Bag Rule

If you are going on a hiking trip that is going to span over a couple of days then you may end up taking a ton of things that you don’t need on the trail because you need them for your hotel. For this reason, it helps to have two bags. When you have two bags, you can have one for hiking and one for comfort.

This way, you don’t end up taking too much stuff with you and you’d be surprised at how easy this can be to do. If you know that you can’t fit everything you need into your hiking bag, then you can’t really hope to fit it in when you get there.

Some hike the highest peaks in each country while other loves visiting waterfalls. What do you enjoy?

But remember to bring the essentials that you can’t go hiking without. Your hiking backpack should always have room for a first-aid kit, navigation (map and compass), extra clothing, lamp and batteries, food, and water bottle for hydration.

Hire Everything

Even if you own all the camping gear that you could ever need doesn’t necessarily mean you should pack it all. This is especially the case if all you are going to do there is hiking, regardless if it’s one or multi-day trip. To save on space and luggage limitations then you can easily hire the essentials when you get to your location.

Before you decide to rent or purchase new equipment, take into consideration where you are traveling for your hiking adventure. Do some research, and see if the area around your destination has rental equipment shops. Reach out to the local hiking and mountain clubs to see if they can recommend any ideas where to get hiking gear for cheap or if they even lend some out to visitors.

You should never go hiking in the wild without essentials like waterproof matches, repair tools, knife or multi/purpose tool, but traveling with all these items can be difficult due to TSA regulations. Therefore, getting them at your destination is another option to consider.

The only thing that you really need to pack is your boots because the last thing that you need is to rent some boots, only to find that they rub or cause you discomfort when you are out on your travels so do keep that in mind.
