Is Your Blog Good Enough?

When you work in a creative industry, your digital presence is a major factor of your success. The more visible you are, the more likely you are to attract new clients. Of course, who says digital presence, says blog. Except that the idea of a successful and competitive blog has long been dominated by the SEO enterprise.

A blog that works is a blog that used the more relevant keywords for its niche and its audience. While it is true that without keywords, you can’t be found, it would be foolish to assume that SEO is all it takes to beat the blogging competition.

Ultimately, even search engines such as Google and Bing have made it clear that keywords are only one of the ranking factors for a website. Google’s addition of a self-learning AI machine as part of its algorithm implies that human behavior is being analyzed and monitored as part of the quest to improve search results.

In short, if you want your blog to be visible, you need to remember that you’re writing for people, and not for search engines. You need to bring back the human nature to your blog; you need to create a style that nobody can forget.

Create a consistent profile online

It’s fair to say that you can’t run a blog without social media platforms to promote your content. From a blogger’s point of view, the favorite platforms tend to be Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn depending on your niche. Instagram is a growing market as it allows bloggers to share visuals and promote their content in a creative and aesthetic manner.

So, if you want to grow your blog, you need to grow your Instagram profile. Indeed, the photo-sharing platform has an engagement rate of 70%, making it the ideal tool to build loyalty and engagement. The key is to build a consistent profile that sticks to your blog color palette and act as a reminder of your brand.

Don’t let errors escape your attention

In the blogging industry, less is often more. There is no need to write long posts that you can’t be bothered to proofread and edit.

Instead, you can focus your attention on creating short and effective content that is error-free. AJ Hoge from Effortless English gives plenty of useful advice on his blog to help bloggers – and others – to use English confidently and powerfully. His point is that you need to convey persuasion and confidence through your choice of words, whether you’re a native or you’re learning the language. And it’s exactly the kind of skills that make the difference online.

Know your target audience

Find your target audience.

Last, but not least, knowing the best words to use and the best imagery is not enough. You also need to develop a solid understanding of your audience. Indeed, your blog has a typical reader who you target.

Whether you’re writing a parenting blog for single moms or a creative platform for independent designers, you need to adjust your style to your readers.

What do successful blogs have in common? They share style features, such as homogeneous imagery, persuasive writing, and tailored content. Without these, your blog can’t face the digital competition.

    Hey Iva,

You’re right – the real magic with content creation is to know how to create content both for humans and for search engines—and reach both goals at once! With the right choice of topics and keywords, one can easily stay faithful to their writing style and voice, and also get good rankings 🙂
