Hotel and Flight Search

There are plenty of different vacation styles that people can choose from. For some people, the perfect vacation may be one where they sit back, relax and don’t do anything. Then others like the idea of a more active vacation that allows them to be healthy and fit while engaging in fabulous activities they love. If your idea of the perfect vacation is a golf getaway, then it’s wise to start planning to ensure the best possible trip. With that said here are five tips that will help you to plan for a great golf vacation.

Do Your Research on Destinations

A good place to start is to research various destinations making sure you pick one that matches up with your expectations, wants, and most likely your budget. If you need to travel a far distance for the vacation, then you’re also going to need to think about transportation to that destination.

Because there are so many great golf courses to choose from, it can be helpful to speak to family and friends who are avid golfers and see if they’ve got any personal recommendations, they can share with you.

Who Will Travel with You?

There is nothing wrong with planning a solo vacation but if you’d rather golf with someone else while on vacation, you’re going to need to figure out who to ask and give them plenty of notice. Golfing vacations tend to work best in twos or fours, so keep that in mind as you make your list of travel companions.

Will You Be Taking Your Equipment or Renting?

Should your golf vacation require you to travel by air, you’re going to want to think long and hard about if you plan to take your golf equipment (your clubs) with you, or just rent at the destination. Golf clubs are classified as oversized luggage, which could mean there is an extra fee. You can look into this ahead of time and decide if it’s worth the cost and effort of lugging your clubs with you.

It may also be helpful to look at the rental fees at the courses you plan to golf at, and if you need to make rental reservations in advance.

Use Your Golf Cart for a Staycation

If your golf vacation will be more of a staycation, meaning you stay at home while on vacation and just visit a variety of local courses, then you can always take your cart with you. Of course, if you’re going to do this, you want to be sure the cart is in tip-top shape and will be dependable on the course. This could mean a few updates and repairs are needed.

Pay particular attention to the condition of the golf cartwheels, as you want to be sure they have a good grip on the course. You can always find new wheels by Club Car, Yamaha and more giving your cart a boost of safety.

Book Your Tee Times

Finally, it’s important to book your tee times in advance so you don’t end up disappointed. If there are specific courses you have in mind, you want to be sure you have a guaranteed spot on the day you’ll be visiting.

Should the destination be particularly hot, you may want to choose early morning tee times when it will be the coolest part of the day.

By following these simple tips you’ll be setting yourself up for a fabulous golf vacation where you’ll get to enjoy different courses, get plenty of outdoor time, stay active, and share some great memories with your golfing buddies.
